This is a model, not a measurement, and it is deliberately conservative. It assumes your enquiry quality and volume stay exactly the same, and that only response speed and follow-up persistence change. It never claims you would transform the business, only that you would stop losing a slice of the work you already very nearly had.
Replying within the hour, including evenings and weekends, is where most of the upside sits.
Stopping after one follow-up leaves most winnable work on the table. Persistence beats volume in a long-cycle sale.
How this is calculated
- Response speed and follow-up persistence are modelled as losses against the work you could already have won, not as multipliers on your wins. The maximum loss attributable to each is held deliberately low, at 30 per cent for speed and 28 per cent for follow-up, so the tool cannot produce the implausible numbers this kind of calculator usually does.
- No change in enquiry quality or volume is assumed. This measures only what better handling of the enquiries you already receive would recover.
- Fee is treated as constant across projects. If your work varies widely, run it separately for each project type.
- If the number looks too good, distrust it. A realistic recovery from fixing response and follow-up is a meaningful slice of current revenue, not a multiple of it.
